Reference Recipe
- Hook 1X-2X long nymph or jig hook, 10-14
- Thread black 6/0 (140 denier)
Materials
- Bead (optional) Black or gold bead (1, sized to hook)
- Marabou (tail) Black or olive marabou (1 small clump)
- Estaz/cactus chenille (body) Black or olive estaz cactus chenille (1 strand, small)
How to tie it
- Slide a bead to the eye if using one, then start the thread behind it.
- Tie in a short, sparse marabou tail at the bend, about one shank long, so it breathes on the swing.
- Tie in a strand of small estaz at the bend.
- Wrap the thread forward to the bead, then palmer the estaz forward in touching turns to build a full, sparkly body.
- Tie off the estaz behind the bead, snip the excess and stroke the fibers back.
- Whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of cement.
