Classic Recipe

  • Hook Articulated streamer, 4-8
  • Thread Olive or black 6/0

Materials

  • Rear hook Marabou + flash (tail)
  • Connection Articulated shank or wire (1)
  • Body Dubbing brush or chenille (palmered)
  • Collar Marabou or deer hair (flared)
  • Eyes Lead dumbbell (1 pair)

How to tie it

  1. Build the rear section first: mount a trailing hook on an articulated shank and tie in a full marabou tail with flash. The rear section should be about one shank length of material.
  2. Connect the front hook to the rear shank with a wire loop or interlocking shanks. The connection should swing freely. This hinge is what creates the swimming action.
  3. On the front hook, build a body with dubbing brush or chenille, wrapping forward to the 60% mark.
  4. Add a collar of marabou or flared deer hair.
  5. Tie in dumbbell eyes on the underside or top depending on your desired orientation.
  6. Whip finish and cement the head generously.
