Leather or Ultrasuede strip (tail) Tan carapace (1 thin strip)

How to tie it
Start the thread at the bend and tie in a thin leather or Ultrasuede strip for the tail, about one-and-a-half shanks long.
Cut, clean and stack a clump of deer hair, hold it over the shank and spin it so it flares around the hook, then pack it back tight.
Repeat spinning and packing clumps of deer hair forward to the eye, packing each bundle hard, this density is what floats the mouse.
Whip finish behind the eye and remove the hook from the vise.
With sharp scissors trim the spun hair to a mouse shape: flat on the bottom, rounded on top, tapering to a point at the nose.
Leave two small upright tabs of hair near the head for ears and add a couple of mono whiskers if desired; return to the vise, add a whip finish at the nose and cement.
