Start black Nano Silk on the hook and tie in lead dumbbell eyes about 1.5 eye-lengths back with figure-eight and over-and-under wraps; secure and add Zap-A-Gap, then run the thread to the rear of the shank.
Pull a pencil-thick clump of Krinklezon flash and twist it to shed stragglers; tie it in at the tail area using the 5/8 method (about 5/8 of the clump forward, 3/8 back): a couple of wraps, then fold the front back and spread it over the top, building a thread dam.
Advance to the next section and tie in another pencil-thick clump 50/50, folding the front back and spreading it over the sides to build profile; build a small dam.
At the next section, tie in another clump 50/50, this time splitting the rear portion with scissors so it passes around the hook point; fold it back and build a dam for bulk in the middle. Brush it out and check the taper.
Behind the eyes, tie in a folded clump on top (reverse-tied, fanned back) and a contrasting yellow/gold folded clump on the bottom; fold back and build a dam that blends into the eyes, keeping yellow on one side and the flash on the other.
Build the head around the eyes and whip finish (the video cuts off during the final head build).
