Midnight Fire Balanced Micro Leech

Nymph · Streamer · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Jig/scud hook (balanced-leech style), 10-12
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Balance pin or straight pin (1)
  • Slotted tungsten bead Black or gunmetal slotted tungsten bead (1)
  • Marabou Black marabou (tail)
  • Flash Red/fire (few strands)
  • Micro chenille or dubbing Black dubbing (body)

How to tie it

  1. Thread the slotted bead onto the balance pin, then lay the pin along the top of the hook shank so the bead sits forward of the eye.
  2. Bind the pin down tightly along the shank and secure so the bead extends past the eye for the balanced-leech attitude.
  3. At the bend tie in a short black marabou tail about one hook length long with a few strands of red/fire flash.
  4. Dub or wrap black micro chenille forward to build a slim body up to the bead.
  5. Seat the body against the bead, whip finish behind the bead and cement.
