How to tie it
Tie in a grizzly hackle at the back of the hook and secure it, then trim the hackle flat off the top so fibers remain only on the sides and bottom (this helps the fly float high).
Dub a body of gray/hare's-mask snowshoe rabbit dubbing along the shank, then brush it out on all sides so the fibers pop out for a buggy look.
Stack a small clump of natural brown deer hair and tie it in as a wing on top with one loose wrap then a tight pull; add a second small clump on top the same way if needed. Fold the front butts up and trim.
Whip finish and cut the thread. Heat a bodkin and press the wing fibers rearward to compact and shape the wing, then brush underneath and trim any stray fibers.
