Materials
Shuck Black EZ Magic Dub (or black Antron) (small pinch)
Thorax UV black ice dub (pinch)
Wing buds (size 18+) Red holographic tinsel, medium (Veevus) (1 short strip per side)
Head/post Black Rainy's Evazote foam, 3/16 in (1 thin strip)
How to tie it
Start the thread behind the eye and wrap to the bend.
Tie in a short trailing shuck of black EZ Magic Dub at the bend, about half a shank long.
Cut a thin strip of black Evazote foam and tie it in at the eye pointing forward, to become the vertical foam head/post.
Dub a slim thorax of UV Black Ice Dub over the rear two-thirds of the shank.
On size 18 and larger, tie a short strip of red holographic tinsel on each side as wing buds.
Fold/pull the foam back over the top to form a small standing foam head at the front and tie off behind it so the head stands up; whip finish. The foam floats the fly vertically in the film like a struggling midge.
