Reference Recipe
- Hook 1XL nymph or jig hook, 14-18
- Thread Brown 8/0
Materials
- Tungsten bead Black or gold bead (1, sized to hook)
- Goose or turkey biots Brown goose biots (2 for tail)
- Brown dubbing or pheasant tail Brown dubbing (for body)
- Ultra wire Copper wire (1 for rib)
- Thin skin or turkey Brown thin skin mottled (1 slip for wingcase)
How to tie it
- Slide the tungsten bead to the eye and mount the hook. Start thread behind the bead and run to the bend.
- Tie in two brown biots splayed into a short forked tail, about half a shank long.
- Bind in the copper wire rib, then dub a slim brown abdomen forward to the 60% mark.
- Rib forward with the wire in 5-6 open turns and tie off.
- Tie in a thin-skin wingcase, dub a fuller thorax to the bead, pull the wingcase over, and bind at the bead.
- Whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of cement.
