Materials
Monofilament (body) Green-tinted (4 lb test, one strand)
Superfine dubbing (thorax, legs and head) Black dubbing (A tiny dab)
How to tie it
Mount a size 20 sedge hook and start olive thread behind the eye, laying a short base.
Tie in a strand of 4 lb green-tinted monofilament on top of the shank, nice and tight.
Keeping tension on the mono, wrap the thread back over it all the way around the bend, then bring the thread forward again and trim the mono butt, taking care not to cut your thread.
Half hitch and park the bobbin out of the way.
Wrap the mono forward in touching turns, straightening it whenever it flips over, and stop about an eye-length short of the eye. Do not crowd the head.
Cut the mono off carefully (again, mind the thread); the small lump left behind will be covered by dubbing.
Dub a tiny dab of black superfine on the thread and wrap a short thorax and head over the mono tie-off, just enough to suggest legs and a head.
Finish with two half hitches, snip the thread and pick off any stray fibers.
