Reference Recipe

  • Hook 2XL-3XL streamer hook, 8-12
  • Thread White 8/0

Materials

  • Craft fur or bucktail White belly / olive back (2 small clumps)
  • Krystal Flash Pearl flashabou (few strands)
  • Small stick-on eyes Silver/black eyes (1 pair)
  • UV resin Clear uv resin (for head)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start thread at the eye, running back to about the 70% mark.
  2. Tie in a sparse clump of white craft fur on the underside for the belly, one and a half shank lengths long.
  3. Add a few strands of pearl Krystal Flash, then top with a matching clump of olive craft fur for the back so the fly is dark over light.
  4. Wrap a small, smooth thread head and whip finish.
  5. Set a small stick-on eye on each side of the head.
  6. Coat the head and eyes with a thin layer of UV resin and cure to lock everything in and form a durable minnow head.
