Reference Recipe
- Hook Curved scud/grub hook, 16-20
- Thread Olive or tan 8/0
Materials
- Ultra wire Olive or amber ultra wire (1 length for body)
- Fine dubbing Brown dubbing (tiny pinch for thorax)
How to tie it
- Mount the curved hook and run a smooth thread base from behind the eye all the way around the bend.
- Tie in a length of fine wire at the rear of the bend.
- Advance the thread forward to just behind the eye, keeping the underbody smooth.
- Wrap the wire forward in tight, touching turns to form a slim, segmented larval body; stop a short way behind the eye.
- Dub a tiny brown thorax collar to suggest the head and legs of the emerging larva.
- Whip finish and add a drop of cement over the thread head.
