Micro Jig Leech

Reference Recipe

  • Hook 60-degree jig hook, 12-16
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Black or copper slotted tungsten bead (1, sized to hook)
  • Marabou Black, olive, or wine (1 small clump)
  • Ice dubbing or Krystal Flash Peacock/UV herl (small pinch)

How to tie it

  1. Seat the slotted bead against the eye of the jig hook and mount the hook. Start thread behind the bead.
  2. Tie in a slim marabou tail one shank length long at the bend, keeping it sparse so it breathes.
  3. Wind the thread forward, then twist a thin marabou or dubbing noodle and wrap it forward to build a slender, tapered leech body.
  4. Add a short collar of buggy ice dubbing just behind the bead for a little flash and bulk.
  5. Sweep the collar fibers back and take a couple of thread wraps to angle them rearward.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and cement.
