Slide the 3.8mm fl. pink slotted bead onto the Grub Boss hook and push it up to the eye, then start the fl. orange 110 denier immediately behind it and build a short thread dam so the bead cannot slide back down the shank.
Cut a short section of Easy Egg Yarn and split it into two or three thin bundles. Egg yarn is far denser than it looks, and using less than feels right is what produces a round, correctly sized micro egg instead of a lopsided golf ball.
Tie the bundles in behind the bead, spacing them evenly around the shank so the fibres surround the hook rather than sitting on top of it. Even distribution here is the difference between a sphere and a mushroom.
Gather every fibre, sweep them all forward over the bead, and lash them down in front of the bead with tight wraps. This is the hidden-bead move. The tungsten disappears inside the yarn, so the fly sinks like a beadhead but shows a fish nothing except egg.
Whip finish in the small gap in front of the bead behind the eye, keeping the head as short as you can so the egg profile runs right up to the eye.
Hold the yarn under light tension and trim it into a sphere with small cuts, rotating the fly as you go rather than trying to take it in one snip.
Touch the exposed thread wraps with Solarez Bone Dry and cure. That is the only place the fly can come apart.
