Micro Changer

Streamer · Trout · Smallmouth Bass · Panfish · Intermediate · 1 version

Classic Recipe

  • Hook Micro Fish-Spine shanks, 4-8
  • Thread White or olive 70D

Materials

  • Shanks Micro spines (3-5)
  • Body Finesse chenille or brushed dub, micro (per shank)
  • Eyes Tiny 3D (1 pair)

How to tie it

  1. Start with the rearmost micro spine shank. Lock in thread and wrap a micro chenille or brushed dubbing collar, sweeping fibers back. Whip finish.
  2. Connect that shank to the next spine forward, restart thread, and repeat the collar. Keeping each section slightly fuller than the last to build a swimming taper.
  3. Continue linking and dressing three to five shanks in all, finishing each so the fly stays articulated and loose.
  4. Mount the front hook and connect the shank train to it, binding the loop down with no gap so it won't foul.
  5. Dress the front section fullest of all, brushing the dubbing out to push water.
  6. Glue a tiny 3D eye to each side, keeping the head tight and small.
  7. Whip finish and cement.
