Spawn Fly Fish dressing

  • Hook Ahrex SA254, 1
  • Thread UniThread Gray or Veevus 140 Grey 6/0

Materials

  • Bead Spawn Super Slotted Tungsten Black or Nickel
  • Weighted Wire Lead Free .025"
  • Tail White bucktail
  • Body Spawn Simi Seal White/Silver
  • Flash Micro Flashabou Opal
  • Dorsal Hareline Bucktail Gray Ghost
  • Eyes Spawn Rainbow/Black 6mm
  • Resin Loon Clear Thin

How to tie it

  1. Start white thread and wrap a base along the front third of the shank.
  2. Tie in a sparse clump of white bucktail on the underside as the belly, a bit longer than the shank.
  3. Add a few strands of pearl flash along each side.
  4. Tie in a clump of pink bucktail on top for the back, matching the belly length, to give the two-tone anchovy profile.
  5. Build a smooth thread head, whip finish and clip.
  6. Glue a 3D eye on each side of the head and coat the head with UV resin or epoxy to a smooth, durable, translucent finish; cure.
