Tungsten or brass bead Gold bead (1, sized to hook)
Lead-free wire Silver lead free wire (6-8 turns (optional))
Ultra wire body Metallic green/olive wire (1 length)
Peacock herl Natural peacock herl (2-3 strands)
Partridge or hen hackle Brown hen hackle (1 feather)
How to tie it
Slide the bead to the eye, small hole first, and mount the hook. Add 6-8 turns of lead-free wire behind the bead and shove them into the bead to lock it, if weighting.
Start thread behind the bead and lay a smooth thread base back to the point of the barb, following the curve of the hook so the body looks like a bent grub.
Tie in the metallic wire at the rear. Advance the thread to just short of the bead.
Wrap the wire forward in tight, touching turns to build a segmented metallic abdomen. Stop one bead-width short and bind off.
Tie in 2-3 peacock herls, twist them into a rope, and take 3-4 turns to form a buggy thorax against the bead.
Fold a soft brown partridge fiber collar around the thorax with 2 turns, sweep the fibers back, and whip finish behind the bead. One drop of cement.
