Reference Recipe

  • Hook standard/curved emerger (Tiemco 101 or 2488), 18-24
  • Thread gray or olive 70 denier / 8-0

Materials

  • Silver-lined glass 'mercury' bead Clear/silver-lined (1, small)
  • Microfibetts Dun microfibetts (2 (split tail))
  • Superfine dubbing Gray or olive superfine dubbing (body)
  • CDC or Antron Gray/dun cdc or antron (emerger wing)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a small mercury bead to the eye and start thread behind it.
  2. At the bend tie in two Microfibetts split into a narrow V tail, half a shank long, over a small thread bump.
  3. Dub a slim, tapered gray body forward to the 70% mark.
  4. Tie in a short tuft of gray CDC or Antron over the thorax as a stubby emerger wing, angled up and forward, no longer than the gap.
  5. Dub a slightly fuller thorax up to the bead, wrapping over the wing base.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and add a tiny drop of cement.
