Reference Recipe
- Hook standard/curved emerger (Tiemco 101 or 2488), 18-24
- Thread gray or olive 70 denier / 8-0
Materials
- Silver-lined glass 'mercury' bead Clear/silver-lined (1, small)
- Microfibetts Dun microfibetts (2 (split tail))
- Superfine dubbing Gray or olive superfine dubbing (body)
- CDC or Antron Gray/dun cdc or antron (emerger wing)
How to tie it
- Slide a small mercury bead to the eye and start thread behind it.
- At the bend tie in two Microfibetts split into a narrow V tail, half a shank long, over a small thread bump.
- Dub a slim, tapered gray body forward to the 70% mark.
- Tie in a short tuft of gray CDC or Antron over the thorax as a stubby emerger wing, angled up and forward, no longer than the gap.
- Dub a slightly fuller thorax up to the bead, wrapping over the wing base.
- Whip finish behind the bead and add a tiny drop of cement.
