Slide the Copper Bead onto the hook and start the thread right behind the eye. Twist just a few strands of Peacock Ice Dub onto the thread and build a small dubbing ball there at the head.
Tie one strand of Olive/Green Flake Barred Crazy Legs along each side of the hook at the head, three or four tight wraps per side, working them until they lie flat against the shank.
Jam the bead forward over the leg tie-in to the eye, jump the thread behind the bead with a loose wrap, then lay tight wraps hard against the back of the bead so it cannot slide rearward. Trim the front legs to about the length of the body.
Tie in the Copper Brassie Wire and bind it down the shank all the way to the bend.
Pick a Brown Grizzly Marabou feather with fine, even tips and tie it in at the bend as a tail about half the body length.
Tie one Crazy Legs strand along each side at the tail exactly as you did at the head, right up against the marabou, and trim the butts.
Tie in four or five strands of Peacock Herl at the bend. Advance the thread about two-thirds of the way up the shank and tie a third Crazy Legs strand in by its middle with X-wraps; lay a few wraps in front of it so the legs swoop slightly rearward, then take the thread almost to the bead.
Twist the herl into a loose rope, just enough to draw the strands together, and wrap it forward, adding a little more twist as you go to build a slight taper. Pull the middle legs back out of the way as you pass them. Stop about half a bead length short of the bead, capture the bundle and trim the butts. Trim the rear and middle legs to body length.
Lift the tail and rear legs and sneak two or three turns of the wire underneath them, counter-wrapping against the direction of the thread and herl; this props the tail up. Continue counter-ribbing forward through the body, capture the wire at the front and twist it off.
Strip the fluff from a Natural India Hen Back feather, grip the tip in hackle pliers, stroke the fibers back and tie it in by the tip. Wrap the collar, stroking the fibers rearward with each turn, bind the stem, trim it, and lay a few wraps over the fiber bases to sweep everything back.
Even the tips of two White Goose Biots and lay them over the top as wings the length of the body. Bind them with tight wraps, then fold the butt ends back and take a couple of wraps over the folded butts so the biots cannot pull out; trim the excess.
Twist a very thin rope of Peacock Ice Dub onto the thread and wrap a small collar to cover the tie-ins, whip finish and add super glue.
