Reference Recipe
- Hook curved scud/emerger hook, 14-18
- Thread pale yellow/olive 70 denier
Materials
- Zelon shuck Amber zelon or antron (short tail)
- Dry-fly dubbing PMD/pale olive (body)
- Sculpin wool Cream sculpin wool (wing post)
- Ripple Ice Hair Pearl anti static bag strip (few fibers)
- Ice Dub Pearl ice dub (thorax)
- CDC feathers Dun/grey cdc feathers (1-2 (parachute hackle))
How to tie it
- Tie in a short amber Zelon trailing shuck at the bend, half a shank long, to imitate the nymphal husk.
- Dub a slim, tapered PMD-olive body forward over the rear two-thirds of the shank.
- At the 70% mark stand up a short post of cream sculpin wool with a few pearl Ripple Ice Hair fibers.
- Touch-dub a little pearl Ice Dub at the wing base for a gassy thorax.
- Wind one or two dun CDC feathers parachute-style around the post, 3-4 turns.
- Whip finish at the wing base and add a pinprick of cement clear of the CDC.
