- Hook 60-degree jig hook, 2-6
- Thread match color (rust/olive/black) 140 denier
Materials
- Cone or tungsten bead Gold or copper slotted tungsten bead (1)
- Rabbit zonker strip Olive/rust/black rabbit zonker strip (1 (tail))
- Flash Copper/pearl flash (few strands)
- Round rubber legs Barred rubber legs (2 pairs)
- Estaz/cactus chenille Match pattern (body)
- Schlappen or marabou Match pattern (1 (palmered collar))
How to tie it
- Slide a cone or tungsten bead to the hook eye and start thread behind it.
- At the bend tie in a rabbit zonker strip tail about 1.5 shanks long with a few strands of flash.
- Splay a pair of rubber legs to the sides at the tail base.
- Tie in Estaz and a schlappen feather, then wrap the Estaz forward to just behind the cone.
- Palmer the schlappen through the Estaz in 4-5 open turns and tie off.
- Add a front pair of rubber legs, whip finish behind the cone, and cement.
