De-barb the Gamakatsu 90 degree jig hook and slide the Medium Tungsten Copper Cone on to the eye.
Start the UTC Rusty Brown thread just behind the 90-degree bend and build a thread bump there so the cone cannot ride round the corner; test it against the cone until it stops. Whip finish, cut away, and head cement the bump. Wedge the cone up against it.
Reattach the thread behind the cone. Tie in the UTC Ultra Wire Copper Medium and the Sparkle Braid Copper right behind the cone and bind both down the shank to just past the barb, then return the thread to behind the cone.
Wrap the Sparkle Braid forward to the cone and tie it off. Put in a two or three turn whip finish so the thread holds while the hook comes out of the vise.
Lay the Rabbit Zonker over the top to measure it: the hide should end at the cone. Pierce the hide with the hook point a little beyond that mark, take the hook out of the vise, slide the strip round the bend and remount. Part the hair, pull the hide snug and bind it in tight behind the cone. Trim the hide slightly shorter than a shank length behind the bend; the hair trails beyond it.
Rib matuka-style: part the hair on the hide, bring the wire over, and take four or five wraps forward to the cone. Tie off. Pull any trapped fibres free from under the wire.
Tie in three Sili Legs, Pumpkin Barred behind the cone, oriented toward the bottom and a little longer than the tail, carrying them over to the far side; trim any that run long. Keep the tie-in area narrow.
Take seven to ten strands of Holographic Flashabou, Copper, about tail length. Tie them on one side, scooch them round the shank with your thumb so some sits top and bottom, flip the hook and bring the rest round the other side. Trim slightly longer than the tail and uneven.
Tie in a short plume of Marabou, Brown on each side, reaching just past the bend, spreading each round its side with a thumbnail or the back of the scissors. Trim the butts leaving a little stub rather than cutting tight to the cone.
Bind the butts down, letting the thread slip down into the cone and taking a few wraps outside it so the cone firms up. Soak head cement into the wraps and whip finish.
