Body Black and yellow chenille, banded (bee stripes)
Wing White-tipped mallard secondary (slips)
Hackle Brown hackle (sparse)
How to tie it
Mount the hook and lay a thread base to the bend.
Tie in a mixed tail of barred teal fibres over a few red hackle fibres, half a shank long.
Tie in black chenille and yellow chenille together at the bend, then wind them in alternating bands forward to build the striped bee body, ending one-third behind the eye.
Tie in a brown hen hackle and take 2 turns as a sparse collar, or set it as a beard, sweeping down.
Cut a matched pair of white-tipped mallard secondary slips and set a low wing over the body, tips to the bend, white tips showing.
Build a neat head, whip finish and varnish.
