How to tie it
Slide the copper slotted tungsten bead onto the jig hook, secure it in the vise, start the wood-duck thread, and lock the bead in place.
Tie in a bunch of Coq de Leon fibers for the tail, then taper the body with thread wraps back to the tail and forward again.
Color about an inch of the thread with a brown Sharpie, then wrap it up the body in open turns to create segmentation.
Tie in two strands of pearl tinsel, one down each side of the shank, as cheeks (a loose wrap, position, then tighten), leaving them hanging to the rear.
Dub a slightly bulky thorax of rusty-brown spiky squirrel dubbing.
Form a sparse CDC collar in a dubbing loop: fold a CDC clump into the loop, spin it, preen the fibers back, and wrap; secure and trim.
Fold the pearl cheeks forward over each side of the collar and secure them; trim the excess and whip finish.
Tie in fluorescent orange thread for a small hot-spot head, take a few wraps, whip finish, and add cement.
