Wrap lead-free wire over the shank for weight and lay a thread base; tie in the gold oval tinsel rib at the bend.
Dub a full olive rabbit-fur body forward to just behind the eye.
Select 2-4 wide webby hackles, match them, and strip the fibers from the underside (lower half) of each so a bare quill remains.
Tie the stripped hackles in by the tips at the bend so the un-stripped fibers stand up as a wing/tail running the length of the body.
Spiral the gold rib forward through the standing wing in 5-6 turns, stroking the fibers up out of the way with each turn so the rib binds the wing flat to the top of the body. This locking of wing to body is the defining Matuka feature and stops the wing fouling.
Tie off the rib, wind a dyed-olive grizzly hackle as a collar/throat behind the eye, sweep it back, build a neat head and whip finish.
