Streamer · Wet Fly · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Tyer Recipe

  • Hook 60-degree jig hook, #8-#12
  • Thread Black or brown 6/0

Materials

  • Straight pin/balance pin Steel balance pin (1)
  • Bead Gold or black bead (1, on pin)
  • Marabou Black, brown or olive marabou (for tail)
  • Leather strip Matching leather strip (1, for body)
  • Ice Dub Peacock/matching ice dub (for collar)

How to tie it

  1. Lay a straight pin along the front of the shank with a bead threaded onto it extending past the eye, and lash it down so the fly will balance horizontally.
  2. Start thread at the bend and tie in a marabou tail about one hook-length long.
  3. Tie in a thin leather strip at the rear and wrap or lay it forward to form the body, securing behind the bead.
  4. Dub a short sparkle collar behind the bead.
  5. Whip finish behind the bead.
