Seat a beaded hook and secure white thread. Insert a length of copper brassy wire into the bead and bind it down, wrapping back toward the bend; set the wire aside.
Blend natural and brown hare's ear, make a dubbing noodle, and wrap forward in close touching turns, building a slight taper toward the head; brush it out buggy.
Take three or four close touching turns of the wire at the back of the fly (a subtle hot spot and durability over the tag ends), then continue forward in open spirals to the thread; secure front and back and helicopter off the excess; brush out again.
Build a small thread base at the head. Snip a rough grouse or partridge feather to a small triangle and tie it in by the tip.
Brush the fibers back and hackle the feather one to two sparse turns around the head; secure with wraps in front of and behind the stem and snip the excess.
Make another hare's ear dubbing noodle (a few darker fibers added) and spin it just in front of the soft hackle to push it back and add buggy fibers; brush everything out.
Color the thread with a marker, whip finish a collar and snip the thread free.
