Slide the 3/32" Gold bead onto the scud/pupae hook, narrow end toward the eye. Start the olive 8/0 Nanosilk and build a small thread mount behind the bead.
Tie in the Small Gold wire just behind the bead and bind it back along the shank and slightly down the bend, not halfway. Leave the wire hanging off the back for the rib.
Peel the very tip from an Olive Grizzly Saddle (a micro saddle, long-fibered but small) and tie it in at the rear by the tip, hanging off the back.
Dub UV2 Seal-X Dark Olive onto the thread a few strands at a time, keeping the noodle thin, and wrap forward to form the body. Go over it a couple of times: shrimp have a thick body.
Wrap the hackle forward in the opposite direction to the dubbing, six to seven turns, to give the fly legs. Tie off behind the bead.
Trim the hackle off the top of the body, cutting at a slight angle, and leave the side and bottom fibers.
Take the 1/8" Olive Midge Flex: one loose wrap behind the bead, then a couple of tight wraps, pull the excess forward, a couple more wraps, then pull the excess until it tears off clean. Take one quick whip finish and move the thread out of the way.
Pull the Midge Flex back over the top of the body. Bring the wire forward over it with one loose wrap first, tighten on the second, then six to seven turns up the back to behind the bead. Tie off behind the bead and wiggle the wire until it breaks off.
Whip finish a couple of times right behind the bead to secure everything and cut the thread. Cut the Midge Flex tail short, about one bead length; leave it as a tag or slice it down the middle to form two tails.
