  • Hook Mustad 3407 saltwater hook, 1/0
  • Thread Clear (fine mono) Fine mono

Materials

  • Mylar tubing (unraveled) Medium mylar tubing (tail)
  • Cactus Chenille Pearl cactus chenille (body)
  • EP Sparkle Brush Holographic silver flashabou (belly)
  • Rabbit zonker strip Navy blue (back)
  • Lateral flash
  • Adhesive holographic eyes Super pearl
  • Cure Goo (Hydro and Tack-Free)

How to tie it

  1. Tie in a tail of unraveled medium mylar tubing at the bend.
  2. Wrap pearl Cactus Chenille forward to form the body.
  3. Tie in an EP Sparkle Brush in holographic silver as the belly; part the fibers to clear the back of the fly, lock the parting with a little Cure Goo Hydro and trim a few stray fibers.
  4. Add lateral flash: tie a length on one side, tack it down, then the other side, tack down and trim.
  5. Prepare a navy-blue rabbit zonker strip for the back; lay a thick bead of Cure Goo along the top of the body, press the zonker strip into it, and hit it with the UV light to lock it solid. Leaving a silvery belly and dark back.
  6. Add adhesive holographic super-pearl eyes and coat with Tack-Free Cure Goo, trimming out any last wild fibers.
