Classic Recipe

  • Hook 6x streamer, 4-8
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Tail Teal flank fibers (small)
  • Body Flat silver tinsel (smooth)
  • Throat Red hackle fibers (sparse)
  • Wing White bucktail, yellow bucktail, purple bucktail, layered (sparse each)
  • Shoulder Teal flank (each side)
  • Topping Peacock herl (5 strands)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the 6x streamer hook and lay a black thread base to the bend.
  2. Tie in a small bunch of teal flank fibres as a tail.
  3. Wrap a smooth flat silver tinsel body forward to one-third behind the eye.
  4. Tie in a sparse red hackle-fibre throat below the shank.
  5. Build the layered wing over the top: sparse white bucktail, then yellow, then purple, each bunch thin, extending to the end of the tail.
  6. Set a short teal flank feather against each side as a shoulder, then top with 5 strands of peacock herl the length of the wing.
  7. Build a tapered head, whip finish and lacquer.
