Tail Brown permanent marker (goose biots)
Ribbing Copper thorax stripe (wire)
Body Natural case (Mad Dubbing or Spiky Dubb)
Thorax Pepper (Mad Rabbit Dubbing)
Thorax cover Pearl ice (2mm Mylar UV band)
Legs Grey rubber legs (partridge hackle)
How to tie it
Start orange UTC 70 denier on the size 14 Demmon 900 and run a base to the bend, leaving a turn or two of orange showing at the rear.
Tie in two brown goose biots as a split tail, one each side, then tie in the copper wire rib.
Dub a shaggy natural body of Mad Dubbing or Spiky Dubb forward to the 60% mark and rib it with copper wire in open turns. The wire both segments the fly and stops the loose dubbing being stripped out by teeth.
Tie in the 2mm pearl ice Mylar UV band at the front of the body for the thorax cover, then dub a fuller pepper Mad Rabbit thorax.
Tie in grey partridge barbs each side as legs, then pull the Mylar band forward over the thorax as a wingcase and tie it down. The pearl band flashes on the top of the fly where a fish sees it first as the nymph tumbles.
Build a small orange head and whip finish. Fish it as an all-purpose searching nymph at any depth.
