Tie the Uni-Stretch gills in up front with the bead pushed back, whip finish, then slide the bead up over the tie-in and restart the rusty brown thread behind it.
Immediately begin the taper, then bind the wire down the shank to the bend. Running the wire the full length keeps the body profile even instead of stepped.
Tie the silver laser tinsel in at the bend, finish the taper, then wind the tinsel forward in touching turns to the bead and tie off.
Counter-wrap the wire forward in open spirals for segmentation. Reversing direction stops the wire slipping into the grooves left by the tinsel.
Tie the wire off, helicopter it away and whip finish, then trim the gills back to about bead length.
Coat the fly in glue or resin. A chromie-style tinsel body needs protecting or it dulls and frays quickly.
