Reference Recipe

  • Hook wide-gap streamer/saltwater hook, 1/0-2
  • Thread white 140 denier

Materials

  • Marabou White marabou (1 sparse clump)
  • Marabou Olive marabou (2 clumps)
  • Cactus chenille Pearl cactus chenille (1 length)
  • Finesse chenille Orange finesse chenille (short length)
  • Laser Dub Olive ice dub (1 pinch)
  • Laser Dub White laser dub (1 pinch)
  • Living Eyes Fire/silver (5mm, pair)
  • UV resin Clear uv resin (as needed)

How to tie it

  1. Lay a thread base from eye to bend. Bind a sparse clump of white marabou one shank length, then stack about twice as much olive marabou on top for the tail.
  2. Tie in pearl cactus chenille and wrap forward to the 60% mark; bind and snip.
  3. Tie in orange finesse chenille and make 2-3 turns for a throat accent so it flashes red like gills; bind and snip.
  4. Add a small olive marabou clump over the top of the underbody, reaching back to mid-tail.
  5. Reverse-tie olive Laser Dub on top and white Laser Dub on the belly so the fibers flare; sweep everything back and pinch to shape a minnow head, using half the dubbing you think you need.
  6. Whip finish at the eye and clip. Glue a 5mm living eye to each side of the head.
  7. Coat the head with thin UV resin and cure, then a thicker coat over the eyes and cure; trim to a slim baitfish profile.
