Bill's Body Braid (EZ Body braided tubing) Silver/pearl (sides), green and blue (top) (Several lengths)
Super glue Clear head cement (For durability)
How to tie it
Mount the hook and start the thread at the bend. Tie in a length of body braid and secure its tag end pointing off the back as the tail base.
Build the tail section by folding the braid back on itself into about five loops: one on top and the rest paired lower on each side, each loop slightly shorter than the last to start a taper.
Move forward up the shank a short step and tie a new 'propeller' cluster of three loops, one on top and two set lower on the sides, keeping the loops shorter than the section behind.
Repeat these three-loop clusters forward, adding a touch of super glue as you go for durability and shortening each successive set to build a smooth front-to-back taper.
Switch colors as you climb the shank (silver/pearl on the lower sides, then green and blue longer on top) to create a baitfish back-and-belly.
Wrap and glue the front cluster in, whip finish and cement the head.
Trim the loops on an angle, shorter toward the front on the sides and shorter on top, so the fly unfurls into a tapered baitfish profile, then brush it out to blend the fibers.
