Classic Recipe
- Hook wet fly (e.g. Kamasan B170), 10-14
- Thread black 8/0
Materials
- Tail Golden pheasant tippet fibers (a few) (small bunch)
- Body Flat silver tinsel (full shank)
- Rib Fine oval silver tinsel (4-5 turns)
- Hackle Blue dun or grizzle hen hackle, as a beard (1)
- Wing Grey mallard or teal flank slips (matched pair)
- Head Black ostrich herl (small)
How to tie it
- Lay a thread base and tie in a few golden pheasant tippet fibers as a short tail.
- Tie in the oval silver rib, then wrap a flat silver tinsel body along the shank and rib in 4-5 even turns.
- Tie in a blue dun or grizzle hen hackle as a soft beard swept down.
- Set matched grey mallard or teal flank slips as a low wet-fly wing over the body.
- Whip finish a small black head and cement.
