How to tie it
Place the hook with a gold brass bead in the vise, add 8-10 wraps of.015 lead wire, and shove it up into the bead. Start orange thread behind the lead, lock the lead in place, and lay a smooth orange base back to just short of the tail point.
Tie in one small olive-grizzly bird-fur (spey hackle) feather as a structural tail about 1.5 shank-lengths long; secure it and trim the stem. Add a little Zap-A-Gap and lay a smooth orange underbody over the tie-in as a hot underbody.
Pull a clump of olive Simi Seal about the diameter of the hook body, align the fibers loosely, wrap it once loosely around the shank, then add a couple of securing wraps as you advance slightly; divide the fibers and fold them rearward, building a small thread dam so they puff back.
Repeat with a second clump the same size just forward, wrapping loosely, dividing, and folding back with a thread dam to build the taper and profile.
For the head, place a final clump loosely around the bead, wiggle the thread through, divide the fibers, and fold them back; build a small orange thread dam behind the bead as a hot collar.
Whip finish with two three-turn whips, trim, and add a small drop of UV resin (or head cement) to the collar; brush the fibers back toward the bead and shape.
