Foam strip (body/underbody) Yellow mm foam (1 strip)
Dry-fly dubbing (body) Pale yellow dubbing (pinch)
Elk or deer hair (wing) Light dun deer or comparadun hair (small clump)
Poly post (indicator, optional) Orange poly yarn (small tuft)
Grizzly hackle Ginger or grizzly dry fly hackle (1 feather)
How to tie it
Bind a thin yellow foam strip along the shank from eye to bend, ribbing the thread in 3-4 turns to segment it, and leave a short foam tab past the bend.
Dub a light layer of pale-yellow dubbing to fill the body.
Bring the foam forward over the top to the 70% mark to form the back and tie down.
Stack and tie in a sparse light elk-hair downwing, tips reaching the bend.
Add a short poly indicator post if desired, wrap 2-3 turns of ginger hackle at the thorax, and tie off.
Trim the wing butts square, whip finish, and cement.
