Tyer Recipe
Hook 1.5 inch, 3/32 inch diameter aluminium tube sleeved with 3/16 inch heat shrink, Tube fly. Fish it on a small single or double

Materials
Bucktail (tail and main wing) Green bucktail (1 small stacked bunch for the tail, a slightly heavier bunch for the wing)
Uni French oval tinsel, medium (rib) Silver oval tinsel (1 length)
Uni yarn (body) White poly yarn (1 length)
Bucktail (underwing) Pink bucktail (1 small stacked bunch)
Saddle hackle fibers (throat) Red saddle hackle fibers (1 sparse quarter inch bunch)
How to tie it
Sleeve a 1.5 inch, 3/32 inch aluminium tube with 3/16 inch heat shrink so only the front of the tube is bare, and mount it in the vise. Start black thread on the exposed aluminium.
Stack a small bunch of green bucktail and tie it in at the rear as the tail, about as long as the knurling on the tube. Pinch loop it on top, check length and position, and add a couple of wraps.
Tie in the silver oval tinsel rib on top, then the white Uni yarn, both bound back to the tail.
Wrap the yarn from the rear forward in touching turns so no underlying material shows through, back up and re-cover any gap. Where the heat shrink meets the bare tube, build a small ramp with the yarn. Tie off.
Rib with the silver tinsel: one careful turn at the back so you do not move the tail, then even spirals forward and up the ramp into the head area. Hold the tube as you wrap. A heat-shrink-covered tube rotates a little.
Take the thread to the back of the head and tie in a stacked, sparse bunch of pink bucktail as the underwing, the same length as the tail. Pinch loop, keep it on top, trim, and use very soft wraps to fill the space where the plastic and metal meet.
Tie in the green bucktail wing over the pink, a slightly thicker clump, unstacked but with the long and short strays pulled out. Just a touch longer than the pink. Check that pink shows evenly on both sides. Soft wraps at the rear, then trim and wind forward.
Add the red saddle hackle throat, about a quarter inch bunch, laid on flat and kept sparse. Too much throat makes a tube fly flip or spin.
Wind the thread forward, whip finish, then finish with UV glue and a top coat.
