Bead or cone (optional) Gold bead (1, sized to hook)

Lead-free wire (optional) Natural lead wire (10-12 turns)
How to tie it
Slide the bead to the eye if using, then lay a thread base and add 10-12 turns of lead-free wire over the front half of the shank for weight; jam it back against the bead and bind down.
Tie in a marabou tail one shank length long, sweeping the barbules back so it stays slim. Add 3-4 strands of pearl Krystal Flash each side, tail length.
Bind in a saddle hackle by its tip at the tail so it is ready to palmer forward later.
Dub a shaggy Lite Brite body forward to just behind the bead. Keep it sparse and let the flash pick out the light rather than loading it on.
Palmer the hackle forward in 5-6 open evenly spaced turns, tie off behind the bead, and snip the excess.
Build a small thread head, whip finish, and add a drop of cement.
