Slide a gold bead onto the hook and start white gel-spun thread.
Tie in a clump of saddle hackle fibers for the tail, wet to keep them straight, and adjust to length; wrap the thread forward to lock the butts, then back to the bend.
Tie in a length of small chartreuse ultra wire at the bend.
Spin a blend of golden brown ice dub and caddis green hare's ear dubbing onto the thread and wrap forward to build a tapered abdomen.
Counter-wrap the chartreuse wire forward in even spirals for segmentation; tie off at the front and helicopter or break off the excess.
Tie in 7-8 natural pheasant-tail fibers (evened and wet) on top as the wing case, pointing rearward; return the thread about a third of the way back.
Dub a thorax of UV pearl ice dub, building it to not quite halfway back from the bead.
Pull the pheasant-tail wing case forward over the thorax and secure it with a couple of wraps behind and a couple in front; trim the excess square.
Take a few loose wraps over the stray fibers and pull them tight so they slide down under the bead out of sight, then whip finish.
