Start black Danville 140D thread midway down the shank and wrap back to where the bend starts, between the point and the barb.
Tie in the Medium Cactus chenille (root beer) and palmer it five or six turns around the shank to form a short collar, the bleeding gills. Bind it down and snip the excess.
Measure a clump of CW Flies fox tail (cream fading to tan) so it extends one to one-and-a-half shank lengths beyond the hook and tie it in on top of the chenille. The chenille props the fox up to give the pinfish shape.
Bar the fox tail with a gold Sharpie, starting right behind the chenille and marking each side.
Measure a second clump of tan CW Flies fox tail to the same length, tie it in over the first, and snip the butts.
Tie in about half of the 3" EP Chromatic Brush on top of the fox and palmer it forward, each turn right in front of the last. Push the fibers back with your fingers on every turn and pick out any trapped fibers with a bodkin as you go, working all the way to the front.
Brush the remaining fibers forward, capture the brush wire with thread, wrap back over it slightly, and cut the wire with an old pair of scissors. Wrap a clean, neat head and finish it.
Put a little Loctite gel just behind the head on each side and press a CW flies 4D living eye (8mm) into place, lining the two up symmetrically.
Coat the thread head with a thin UV resin and cure it, clean up the head with a lighter, then give the underside a haircut with a razor to let the chenille show through.
