Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Gamakatsu SC15, 1/0
  • Thread Tan Danville 210 flat waxed

Materials

  • Polar Flash Gold and pearl flash (small bunches)
  • Craft fur Tan craft fur (several clumps)
  • Flashabou Blue glow (few strands)
  • Jurassic eyes, 1/4 in - (1 pair)
  • Eye shadow Gold middle (-)
  • Permanent marker Brown permanent marker (-)
  • 5-minute epoxy / Zap gel / head cement - (-)

How to tie it

  1. Lay a thread base along the shank from the eye to the bend.
  2. Tie in a tan craft-fur tail at the bend about one-and-a-half shank-lengths long, cleaning out the underfur first.
  3. Add gold and pearl Polar Flash and a few strands of blue-glow Flashabou over the tail for the lateral flash.
  4. Working forward, tie in and reverse-stack successive collars of tan craft fur top and bottom, folding each back and packing it to build a deep pinfish body profile.
  5. Blend more gold/pearl Polar Flash into the upper collars for the back and flank sparkle.
  6. Build a neat tapered thread head and whip finish.
  7. Bar the back with a brown permanent marker and dust the body with gold eye shadow to give the pinfish sheen.
  8. Glue a 1/4 in Jurassic eye to each side of the head, then coat the head with epoxy (or Zap gel/UV) and cure.
