Classic Recipe
- Hook Standard wet fly / spider hook, 14-16
- Thread Yellow / primrose (Pearsall's Gossamer 3) 8/0
Materials
- Silk Pearsall's Gossamer yellow, waxed (full body)
- Body The waxed yellow silk (shank)
- Hackle Pale feather from the inside of a snipe's wing (1 turn)
How to tie it
- Run the waxed yellow silk from behind the eye to above the barb and back to the two-thirds mark; the silk forms the body.
- Tie in a soft pale covert from the inside of a snipe's wing by the tip at the two-thirds point.
- Take one sparse turn of hackle and lock it with two turns of silk.
- Stroke the fibres back, build a small head, whip finish and varnish.
