How to tie it
Start thread at mid-shank and bind two black spandex tails at the bend, splayed and about one hook-gap long.
Tie in a length of rusty-black Dirty Bug Yarn and wrap a fat, tapering abdomen over the back half of the shank, working in a touch of burnt-orange yarn along the belly for the salmonfly's underside.
Stack 8-10 dark dun CDC feathers and tie in a low underwing reaching just past the bend.
Tie a narrow clump of dark elk hair over the CDC as the overwing, tips to the tail, and trim the butts.
Fold three pairs of black spandex legs across the thorax and figure-8 them in, angling forward and back.
Add an optional orange Trigger Point sighter, then dub a heavy thorax of black CDC spun in a loop with a little rusty-black hare's-ear.
Sweep two black spandex antennae forward over the eye, build a small head, whip finish, and cement.
