Reference Recipe

  • Hook 3XL streamer, down eye, 6-10
  • Thread Chartreuse 6/0 (140 denier)

Materials

  • Marabou Chartreuse marabou (1 plume (tail))
  • Chenille Yellow chenille (1 strand (body))
  • Saddle hackle Grizzly or chartreuse saddle hackle (1 feather)
  • Wire rib Gold wire (6 in)
  • Bead Gold bead (1 (optional))
  • Lead wire Natural lead wire (8-10 turns (optional))

How to tie it

  1. If weighting, slide a gold bead to the eye, wrap 8-10 turns of lead wire over the middle of the shank, and shove them back against the bead.
  2. Start thread behind the lead and bind a chartreuse marabou tail one shank length long at the bend; keep it thin.
  3. Tie in the gold wire and a hackle by its tip at the tail base.
  4. Tie in yellow chenille, strip the fibers off the tie-in end, and wrap it forward in touching turns to just behind the bead.
  5. Palmer the hackle forward in 5-6 evenly spaced turns and tie it off behind the bead.
  6. Counter-wrap the gold wire forward through the hackle in the opposite direction to lock it, wiggling side to side so it doesn't trap fibers; helicopter off the excess.
  7. Build a small collar, whip finish behind the bead, and cement.
