Streamer · Trout · Smallmouth Bass · Largemouth Bass · Pike · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook 3XL-4XL streamer hook, #6-10
  • Thread Black or olive 6/0 (140 denier)

Materials

  • Lead or lead-free wire (underbody, optional) Grey lead wire (10-12 turns)
  • Marabou (tail) Olive / black / brown marabou (1 plume)
  • Krystal Flash Pearl / matching flash (4-6 strands)
  • Marabou (body) Olive / black / brown marabou (1-2 plumes)

How to tie it

  1. If weighting, wrap 10-12 turns of wire over the middle of the shank and lock with thread. Start the thread and run it to the bend.
  2. Tie in a marabou tail one to one-and-a-half shank lengths long at the bend, keeping it slim.
  3. Add a few strands of Krystal Flash over the tail, the same length.
  4. Tie in one or two marabou plumes by the tips at the base of the tail.
  5. Wind the marabou forward in touching turns, stroking the fibers back after each wrap, to build a soft, mobile body; tie off behind the eye.
  6. Build a small head, whip finish, and add a drop of cement.
