Classic Recipe
- Hook Salmon single/double, 6-12
- Thread Black 8/0
Materials
- Tail GP crest (small)
- Body Flat silver (smooth)
- Rib Oval silver (fine)
- Wing Blue-dyed squirrel or fox (sparse)
- Hackle Blue hackle (collar)
How to tie it
- Mount the salmon single or double and run thread to the bend.
- Tie in a small golden pheasant crest as a tail, curving up.
- Catch in the fine oval silver rib, then wrap a smooth flat silver body forward to one-third behind the eye.
- Spiral the oval silver rib forward in 5 even turns, tie off and snip.
- Tie in a sparse bunch of blue-dyed squirrel or fox as a wing over the top, tips to the bend.
- Tie in a blue hackle and take 2 turns as a front collar, sweeping the fibres back.
- Build a neat head, whip finish and varnish.
