Lead or lead-free wire (underbody) Grey lead wire (optional, 8-10 turns)
Dubbing or floss (underbody) Cream / olive dubbing or floss (1 pinch)
Latex strip (body) Cream / pale green latex strip (1 thin strip)
Dubbing (thorax/head) Dark brown / black dubbing (1 pinch)
Partridge fibers (legs, optional) Brown hen hackle (few fibers)
How to tie it
If weighting, wrap 8-10 turns of wire over the front half of the shank and lock it with thread. Start the thread and lay a base to the bend.
Dub or wind a smooth, slightly tapered underbody of cream or olive over the rear three-quarters of the shank to give the latex its color.
Tie in a thin strip of latex, stretched thin, at the bend.
Wrap the latex forward in slightly overlapping turns to the thorax, stretching it tighter over the abdomen and relaxing near the front so it segments and swells like a caddis grub; tie off and trim.
Optionally tie in a few partridge fibers as short legs.
Dub a dark brown thorax and head over the front quarter of the shank.
