Tyer Recipe

  • Hook standard dry hook, #12-#16
  • Thread Olive or tan 8/0

Materials

  • Foam strip Tan/olive foam strip (for body/wing case)
  • Dubbing Olive/brown dubbing (for underbody)
  • Deer or elk hair Natural deer hair (for down-wing)
  • Hackle Brown hackle (optional, few turns)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread and tie in a thin foam strip at the bend.
  2. Dub a slim body forward to the thorax.
  3. Tie in a deer-hair down-wing over the body, tips to the bend.
  4. Pull the foam forward over the wing butts to form a caddis wing case and tie down behind the eye.
  5. Trim the foam to a short head and whip finish.
