How to tie it
Start the red 14/0 thread on the size 16 scud hook and tie in the red brassy wire, keeping it right in line with the hook shank as you bind it down and around the bend.
Tie in the medium green holographic tinsel at the same point, then advance the thread to the front of the hook and throw a half hitch so it doesn't slip.
Wrap the tinsel forward smoothly all the way to the front, secure it with the tying thread and clip the excess, adding a couple of extra thread wraps to bind it down well.
Counter-wrap the red wire forward over the tinsel in evenly spaced turns, spaced slightly closer than you would normally rib with wire, secure it at the front and clip the excess.
Dub a couple of inches of peacock Super Bright onto the thread and form a small dubbing ball as the thorax, trimming off any stray fibers sticking out.
Grip a partridge feather by the tip with tweezers, tie it in by the tip, fold the tip back and bind it down. Take the stem in hackle pliers and make two or three turns, being very gentle on the first turn since the stem is fragile, pulling the fibers back between wraps.
Take a thread wrap behind the stem and one in front, then clip the excess feather.
Pull all the hackle back and build a pronounced red thread head, pushing the partridge collar back against the dubbing ball as you wrap.
Whip finish with four or five turns and clip any stray barb.
