Classic Recipe

  • Hook 6x streamer, 4-8
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Body Peacock herl (full)
  • Ribbon Flat silver tinsel (spiral)
  • Throat White bucktail + golden crest (sparse)
  • Wing Badger saddles (4, matched)
  • Cheeks Jungle cock (1 pair)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the 6x streamer hook and lay a thread base the length of the shank.
  2. Tie in flat silver tinsel, then peacock herl; wrap a full peacock body forward and counter-rib with the silver tinsel in 5-6 open turns to protect the herl.
  3. Tie in a sparse white bucktail throat topped with a short golden pheasant crest, below the shank reaching to the point.
  4. Marry and mount four matched badger saddle hackles as the wing, curving in, extending to the end of the tail.
  5. Set a jungle cock eye against each side as a cheek.
  6. Build a tapered head, whip finish and lacquer to a glossy finish.
